How DHL parcel customs clearance works
Parcels worth over EUR 150 are subject to taxation: duty (usually 10%) and 20% VAT are charged on the excess amount. For individuals, the customs declaration is filed using form M-16. Once the parcel arrives, DHL emails the air waybill and invoice — that is when clearance begins. With the SEMERO broker you do not need to visit customs: we prepare the declaration, pay the charges and release the parcel within 1 day.
Tracking a DHL parcel
Your parcel is tracked with a 10-digit waybill number on dhl.com. Customs statuses ('Clearance event', 'Held in customs') mean customs needs documents — that is where we help most often.
